Busch Gardens –Friday, April 20, 2012 - Questions and Answers
What time does my child have to be at school? 8:15 a.m. (School buses leave school promptly at 8:30 a.m.) Don't forget to send your child's season pass if you have one! Students should report to their classroom to check in with their teacher.
What time will the buses return to school? We will meet at the buses at 3:45. We plan to leave BG at 4:00 pm and arrive at school at approximately 5:30 p.m. Please be at school on time to pick up your child. All children will need to sign out with their child’s homeroom teacher before going home for the day. If your child is going home with someone besides a parent, please notify your child’s teacher before Thursday, April 19, 2012 if you did not indicate this on the original permission sliip.
How much money should I send with my child? Bring a minimum of $20 for lunch, drinks, and snacks to purchase in the park. You may send more for souvenirs if you'd like. We are not allowed to bring food or drinks from home into the park. The students will be responsible for keeping their own money.
How about snacks on the bus? You may pack non-sticky snacks and a drink (clear water only) for the bus rides. On the way home, sticky snacks like funnel cakes, ice cream, sodas, etc. are not allowed on the bus. Each teacher will have a trash bag to properly dispose of all trash.
What if my child needs medication during the day? Children who take medication will need to remain with their own parent or teacher during the trip so medication can be administered.
What should my child wear? Dress for the weather. We suggest pants or shorts with secure pockets to hold money. Comfortable walking shoes are a must!! No flip flops that will fly off on a ride and no bathing suits. If it looks like rain, it's a good idea to bring a plastic poncho. It is recommended that students and chaperones apply sunscreen in the morning before coming to school. A hat and sunglasses can be worn if you would like.
May my child bring an IPod, electronic games, or a cell phone? Students are not to bring cell phones to school. Other electronics may be used on the bus, but at your own risk. We are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items.
I'm not a chaperone, but may I come anyway? You may meet us at the park, but you will not be considered an official chaperone. This means that your child must stay with his/her chaperone that has been assigned. Also, you'll need to buy your ticket at the gate at the full admission price. If you drive separately, please do NOT drive your car between the buses since they try to travel together through traffic lights and tolls. It is recommended that you drive ahead of us and meet us there. Please also be aware that you should not follow the buses into the park as they go to a special bus entrance where cars are not allowed. They will exit off of I-64 one exit before the regular car entrance to enter the park through a special buses only entrance.
Is my child allowed to ride home with me from Busch Gardens? Yes, as long as you sign them out with their teacher. If your child is going home with someone besides their parent(s), please notify your child’s homeroom teacher no later than Thursday, April 19, 2012. All students need to be signed out with his/her homeroom teacher before going home that day.
Do the students have something that they need to do while at the park? At the park, they will need to take specific photographs or draw pictures as mentioned on their project sheet that they received in school. All students will be completing their own picture journal for a grade after the trip that ties in nicely with various areas of our curriculum. Other than the mandatory project pictures, the children can include other fun pictures, too! So, it would be a great idea to send a disposable camera. Students may also draw pictures if they prefer. Chaperones may bring cameras to assist with this task.
